Unforgettable memories
My journey began in Cusco, located 3,400 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Peruvian Andes. This city, once the capital of the mighty Inca Empire, invites those seeking living history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.
In the first few days, I explored incredible places such as the Salinas de Maras, the impressive archaeological site of Moray, and the colorful village of Pisac. Each stop felt like a journey back in time, revealing the secrets of the ancient Andean people.
We also visited the mystical Sacsayhuaman Fortress, now in ruins but still imposing. From there, we made our way to the archaeological park of Ollantaytambo, which served as a starting point to reach Aguas Calientes, the base town for Machu Picchu.
And then, finally, Machu Picchu.
Words cannot truly capture the energy of that place. I felt so privileged to be there, surrounded by towering mountains and nature that seems to speak the language of history. For 30 minutes, I stood in silence, simply contemplating. Sometimes, the best photo is the one we take with our eyes and keep in our memory.
I took a moment for myself, took a deep breath, and allowed everything around me to touch my soul. The connection to that space is surreal — magical.
Later, I tackled the challenging hike to the summit of Huayna Picchu. It took 45 minutes of intense climbing, but the view… indescribable. Being up there, looking down at Machu Picchu, felt like seeing the world from a new perspective — calmer, more complete, and more real.
This was the trip that marked my 20th year and my first international journey.
And one thing is certain: I want to go back one day.
